Engineering - Systems
Join Qualcomm Technologies QCT Multimedia group and contribute to the Corporate & Industry-wide initiatives for developing video codec and protocols for multimedia services in wireless networks. Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the Video Standards team.
Contribute to the conception, development, implementation and optimization of new algorithms for next generation video codecs such as VVC/H.266 or MPEG-I. Considerable focus will be placed on Point Cloud content compression.
Consider application of the latest advancements in Machine Learning to video compression.
Actively participate in the related work of standardization forums: JVET, MPEG and ITU-T.
Participate in the encoder design and implementation of VVC and future video codecs on different platforms including hardware, ARM and DSP.
Monitor progress on all activities and make necessary adjustments to keep development on track.
Prepare department and division wide reports.
Work through all personnel issues (including employee motivation, career planning, and conflict resolution
Engage with key customers and promote / enable our technology / solutions in customers devices.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
8+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.
10+ years experience in managing engineering teams (10+) with experience in the following:
Digital signal processing and information theory, familiarity with latest machine learning technology a bonus.
Knowledge of multimedia compression and the relevant formats such as H.265/HEVC, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.
Record of innovation: granted patents in the area of video or image coding, processing, publications.
Knowledge of standardization work and processes, experience and track record as standardization delegate preferred.
Proven track record of planning, tracking, and completing complex projects.
Experience develop high-level strategy, without losing sight of the tactical aspects
Clear ability to do large group presentations.
Experience and ability to work with multiple external teams.
Required: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Doctorate, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
