Job Overview
The world's data traffic including mobile is increasingly led by video. To address this challenge, Qualcomm is developing the next-generation video codecs and their efficient implementations. We are actively involved in standardization forums such as ITU-T or MPEG defining compression formats. The Video R&D and Standardization team also contributes to the feature development and algorithms for multimedia applications on Qualcomm multi-processor and multi-core chipsets. Your work will affect the lives of millions of people and will connect the worlds leading online video services to a new generation of smartphones, tablets, laptops and televisions. Your responsibilities will include:
Contribute to the development of new algorithms and designs for video coding, transport, and application systems, including designs of the systems and transport interfaces (high-level syntax aspects) of the next generation video codec, HEVC, its scalable and 3D video extensions, as well as their file formats, and RTP payload formats.
Actively participate in the related work of standardization forums: JVET, JCT-VC, MPEG Video, MPEG Systems, MPEG-DASH, MPEG-I, ITU-T/VCEG, IETF, and 3GPP SA4.

Minimum Qualifications
Industry OR Academic experience in one or more of the following skills:
Video compression standards such as MPEG2, H.264 or HEVC
Record of innovation: granted patents, publications in the area of video/image coding, processing, and/or transport.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the MPEG standardization process
Experience with common test model software, such as the HM or JEM software packages.
Programming skills and C/C++ coding abilities.
Education Requirements
Required: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
Preferred: Doctorate, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
