Job Overview

Sr. Staff Unified Communications Engineer responsible for leading the design, configuration and deployment of Unified Communications (Voice & Video), He / she will assist in the daily maintenance of video, voice and infrastructure, ensuring optimal network performance and providing trouble-shooting services as needed. He / she will also partner closely with peers to develop communications solutions that address existing and emerging business requirements.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Plan, design, implement and support Qualcomm global Video and VoIP infrastructure.

  • Support network comprised of Cisco Unified Communications

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies.

  • Perform upgrades, new installations, enhancements and configuration changes as needed.

  • Monitor daily operations; troubleshoot problems, and performance tuning.

  • Adhere to corporate change management policies and practices.

  • Work on cross department and function projects.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation.

  • Capable of managing vendor relationships.

  • On-call responsibilities.

  • Provide technical leadership.

  • Oversee network planning, implementation and support processes and procedures

  • Demonstrate expert level knowledge of network topologies and conditions.

  • Provides expert consultation and technical advice on UC planning, engineering, and architecture for assigned systems by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 7+ years Networked Systems-related work experience OR 9+ years Networked Systems-related work experience without a bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications

-Minimum 10 years of experience in large enterprise environments

-Expert-level and hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager environments including, UCS servers, TMS, Telepresence Servers, MGCP, SCCP, H323 controlled gateways, Expressway, CUBE, Unity Connection, CER, CMS & SME.

-Expert-level and hands-on experience with Jabber Mobile/Desktop applications, SX, DX, EX video endpoints.

-Expert-level and hands-on experience with VMware, vSphere.

-Expert-level and hands-on experience with end to end encrypted video/voice networks.

-Expert-level and hands-on experience CAPF, LSC, ITL, CTL, 3rd Party signed external and internal certificates for Expressway, CUCM, CUC, TMS, CMS.

-Sound understanding and experience with complex telephony dial plans, call routing, ISDN PRI T1/E1's, VoIP trunking (H323 and SIP) and E911 strategies

-Experience with network services like GEO DNS, DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS, SNMP, LDAP and SMTP


-Technical proficiency is required in maintaining and operating server equipment and associated services and applications.

-Understanding of Cisco voice/video licensing practices.

-Working knowledge of automation practices.

-Have working experience in troubleshooting issues with Vendors

CCNA/CCNP-Voice and/or equivalent hands on experience.
