IT Security Engineer

Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems. Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures. Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols. Administers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems. Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Working under close supervision.
Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; Impact of decisions is readily apparent; Errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).
Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.
Completing some tasks with multiple steps that must be performed in a specific order; directions or manuals can accurately document the steps necessary to perform the tasks.
Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.
Exercising some creativity to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.

Bachelors degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems) OR Bachelors degree in a non-technical field (e.g. Business, Humanities, Marketing) and 1+ years IT-relevant experience OR High School diploma or equivalent and 3+ years IT-relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in IT-related field
Information Security-Relevant Certifications
Preferred: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Networks & Systems and/or Computer Science and/or Information Technology or equivalent experience. Certifications from SANS, ISC2 or other in relation to the Cyber Security field a plus
