Overview

Qualcomm's Multimedia R&D and Standards Group is seeking candidates for its Computer Vision team in San Diego, CA. The team develops new algorithms, architectures and systems for computer vision functions running in an embedded systems environment targeted primarily to devices operating in a mobile environment. We are seeking candidates with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in computer vision technologies including 2D/3D feature detection and matching, Visual inertial odometry, SLAM, experience in practical machine learning along with ability to map computer vision algorithms to CPU, GPU, DSP and investigate hardware/software tradeoffs and define hardware accelerators for computer vision tasks. Experience in developing real time computer vision systems in the context of embedded systems is desirable. Working knowledge of problem solving of computer vision tasks using neural network processing is also a plus for this position. Candidates at all levels of experience will be considered.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will have responsibilities in one or more of the following areas:

  • Work with other leads on design and technology development activities for computer vision systems including architecture development, algorithm profiling on target platforms, hardware/software partitioning of algorithms.

  • Work on specifications leading to new computer vision subsystems in embedded systems. This work will involve looking at various aspects of systems design.

  • Developing and optimizing computer vision algorithms to meet the power and performance goals of an embedded system.

  • Research and development of novel computer vision use cases employing deep neural network processing frameworks.

  • Having a background in HW C model development, Digital Verification (DV), Test Vector Generation to be Used in DV in the context of computer vision hardware accelerator development would be a plus for this position. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Expertise in computer vision and machine learning related topics including feature detection and matching, visual intertial odometry, object recognition technologies, mapping of algorithms to architectures and hardware/software partitioning of algorithms, end to end use case analysis for computer vision tasks in an embedded system environment

  • Systems level architecture for hardware accelerators targeted to computer vision tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Programming skills in Matlab, C/C++, and experience in Windows or Unix/Linux development environments

  • Extensive experience using OpenCV Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing real time computer vision systems

  • Expertise in deep neural network processing frameworks for computer vision tasks

  • Experience in eye tracking, human gesture recognition, body pose estimation is a plus

  • Software development for embedded GPU/DSP hardware

  • Strong research/problem solving skills and keep up with the latest findings and trends in the domain of computer vision.

  • Perl and Python programming

Education Requirements

Education Requirements Required: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with significant computer vision topics and image/video processing related coursework.

Preferred: PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with emphasis in Computer Vision area and have a background in image/video processing
