Job Overview

Qualcomm is looking for Network Engineer to:

  • Assist in the deployment and support of a heterogeneous global network security infrastructure comprised of multi-vendor firewall, VPN, web security and routing/switching technologies.

  • Support a broad range of projects, from enterprise wide initiatives to localized solutions, that may span across multiple departments or functions.

  • Interface with other IT groups or internal business units to gather requirements or present solutions that meet business objectives/initiatives.

  • Understand network and host based security concepts and their practical application within Data Center, Campus or WAN environments.

  • Support web proxies, firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, routing, and switching solutions across both physical or virtual infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, perform upgrades, installations, enhancements, configuration changes, troubleshooting, monitoring, and other operational responsibilities.

  • Adhere to corporate change management policies and practices and serve as liaison between service groups, customers and IT management to coordinate service impacts.The Role will involve exposure to:

  • Plan, design, implement and support network based security services and tools across Qualcomm's global network

  • Support and manage multi-vendor firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, web proxy, and other network security technologies across physical or virtual environments

  • Perform upgrades, new installations, enhancements and configuration changes as needed

  • Perform daily operational duties such as: responding to support requests and troubleshooting service problems or outages

  • On-call responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain documentation

  • Work in a 24x7 rotational shifts supporting global operations.

  • Large heterogeneous network environment

  • Security principles that span from the network to application layers

  • Network security technologies; Web-Proxies, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, VPN (SSL & IPsec), Routing, Switching

  • Protocols/technologies such as: IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, HTTP(S), TLS/SSL, IPSec, 802.1x

  • Installing and configuring traditional and next-gen firewalls: Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper

  • Configure VPN solutions: Remote Access, P2P, SSLVPN

  • Reducing the interference, channel allocation, roaming etc..

  • UNIX, Linux, Windows OS, and Shell/Perl scripting

  • Syslog, Splunk, and security monitoring tools

  • Maintaining and operating network equipment and their associated services and applications

  • Troubleshoot issues while interacting with vendor technical support

  • Customer service skills and detail oriented

  • Network industry trends and todays IT security challenges

  • CISSP Certification will be added advantage

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 4+ years Networked Systems-related work experience OR 6+ years Networked Systems-related work experience without a bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years experience with at least one operating system (e.g., Linux, OSX, Windows).

1+ years experience leading project teams.

Cisco Certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) or equivalent industry certification.
