The Qualcomm QPSS Team designs analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for on-chip supply monitoring (current and voltage) and management, droop mitigation, CPR, voltage and current references and differential clock references for a wide range of Qualcomm products. The primary focus of the work is on low-power and low-voltage mixed-signal design with emphasis on advanced nanometer FINFET technology nodes.

The successful candidate will both design key circuit blocks and work closely with layout engineers to ensure the layout is fully optimized and complies with best analog layout practices.

The role requires industry experience in transistor-level circuit implementations or highly relevant academic experience in a PhD program focused on full custom analog circuit design using nanometer CMOS technologies.

In addition to analog and mixed signal circuit design expertise, good understanding of device physics, analog circuit custom layout, power distribution networks (PDN), digital design flow and SoC top-level integration, Cadence IC Design Tool are required.

Primary responsibility:

  • Develop analog/mixed signal hard macros using Cadence IC design environment in conjunction with proprietary CAD flows.

  • Participate in internal customer requirements discussions.

  • Create design specifications.

  • Perform circuit design in 10nm and 7nm FinFet CMOS processes technologies and beyond.

  • Create behavioral models in Verilog.

  • Set-up, run and analyze circuit simulations.

  • Perform quality assurance procedures on developed hard macros.

  • Deliver hard macros and support customer integration and testing.

  • Perform silicon characterization and prepare silicon verification reports

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.

5+ years ASIC design, verification, or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

  • 8+ years ASIC design, verification, or related work experience.

  • 2+ years experience with architecture and design tools.

  • 2+ years experience with scripting tools and programming languages.

  • 2+ years experience with design verification methods.

  • 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

  • MSEE required, Ph.D. preferred with 5+ years experience in mixed-signal IC design, with emphasis on analog circuit design.

  • Experience with several analog/mixed-signal IC development cycles including design,simulation, layout and testing.

  • Design experiences with differential ring oscillators, LC tank oscillators, bandgap references, current references, biasing techniques, high speed frequency divider circuits, and linear feedback system techniques. Knowledge of PLL, DLL, oscillators, SERDES and high-speed digital circuits is a plus.

  • Experience with CMOS transistor level design, block level integration, and block level pre/post layout simulation.

  • Understanding of simulation models, design rules and verification procedures(DRC/LVS/ERC), is essential.

  • Experience with design practices such as minimizing device mismatch, noise, andsignal coupling is a plus.

  • Knowledge of process technology and physics related to sub-micron CMOS silicontechnologies.

  • Experience with Cadence Spectre simulation tools required to efficiently simulateanalog/mixed-signal circuits.

  • Experience with CAD tools, Linux/Unix environments and scripting/programming

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal skills.

  • Team oriented.
