We are building a local EDA team and have an opening for an experienced engineer to provide internal support of the simulation and extractions tools used by electrical engineers. The successful candidate will become key member in QCAE (Qualcomm's Computer Aided Engineering Group), responsible for providing process automation, design services, methodology support, project consulting, and training for Qualcomm's substantial EDA RF/SI tool portfolio. The engineer will work within a global team of experienced EDA support engineers. The candidate will drive automation and troubleshooting related to the design flows QCAE supports. Working effectively across organizational boundaries is essential, as is the effective documentation and presentation of results. Candidate is needed to support RF/SI design flows using the commercial and custom tools to support RF Engineers and Signal Integrity engineers. -QCAE support includes tools from Keysight, Ansys, Cadence Sigrity, CST and AWR.
Candidate is expected to provide electrical modeling support to engineers performing analysis of PCBs, various IC Packages, on-chip interconnects to ensure design success. The candidate will engage with PCB SI engineers, electrical package modeling engineers, RF and antenna engineers, and IC designers to find solutions and provide recommendations for optimal modeling and extraction techniques. The work will include translation of PCB and Package layout using Mentor and Cadence layout tools, using electromagnetic solvers to extract S-parameters, parasitic values, etc.
*MS degree preferred, or minimum BS with 2+ years experience in the following areas:
Electromagnetic theory and transmission lines
Basic signal and power integrity concepts
Circuit solvers such as Agilent ADS or HSPICE
Full-wave EM solvers such as HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, PowerSI or SIWave
*Coding experience with Python and/or Java, shell and/or perl programming experience, Linux operating systems and environment. Good verbal and written communication skills
Additional skills in the following areas a plus:
DDR and LPDDR design and analysis
High speed serial IO design and analysis
Programming skills in Python, Perl, C, C++ or similar languages
Spreadsheets and similar productivity tools, including scripting VNA or TDR based high frequency measurements
Mentor or Cadence board design tools
Strong problem solving/ debugging skills.
Effectively communicates with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail, web meetings, and instant messaging including status reports and illustrative presentation slides.
Leadership skills to help direct, prioritize, and clearly set project tasks per schedule. Communicate milestones and directions to outside team members.
