Job Overview Join Qualcomm Technologies Inc. CDMA Technologies, based in San Diego, California, and contribute to the Corporate and Industry-wide initiatives for developing video codec and protocols for multimedia services in wireless networks. Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the conception, development, implementation and optimization of new algorithms targeting improved coding efficiency over state-of-the-art video codecs such as HEVC. Considerable focus will be placed on compression of High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut content (HDR/WCG).

  • Actively participate in the related work of standardization forums: JVET, MPEG Video, ITU-T/VCEG and SMPTE.

  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to develop reference design of HDR/WCG coding and processing algorithms for various platforms including hardware, GPU, ARM, DSP, etc.

Minimum Qualifications Experience required in one or more following areas:

  • Signal processing algorithms design for video and image processing.

  • Multimedia compression such as H.265/HEVC, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and their scalable extensions.

  • Perceptual video coding and visual quality assessment.

  • Color space adaptation, tone mapping and gamut mapping.

  • Experience with transform design, entropy coding, motion estimation and RD optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Record of innovation: granted patents in the area of video source coding, processing, and/or transport, publications.

  • Proficiency in C++ and/or C programming, experience with SIMD, GPU programming, and code optimization.

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art HDR/WCG video coding technologies.

  • Knowledge of video production and distribution workflows.

  • Experience with multimedia applications development for mobile platforms is a plus.

Education Requirements Preferred: Doctorate, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science
