Job Overview Qualcomm provides complete chipset solution that includes CPU, Modem, Application Processor, Multi-media engines, Interconnect and more. Power is a key area that drives the value of our chips. As fabrication technology node shrinks, and performance requirement become higher, it is crucial to provide power optimized solutions, which is the responsibility of the group that you will be working in. We are looking for an experienced engineer with the skills to explore different synthesis and physical design approaches to optimize power and performance of multi-media cores. Key responsibilities are:

  • Get plugged into MM cores teams design environment for synthesis, floorplanning, placement, CTS, P&R, power optimization, STA and PTPX

  • Explore different front end, synthesis and physical design approaches to optimize power and performance for MM cores

  • Review with the design teams and roll out the flow for main line adoption

Minimum Qualifications 5+yrs years industry experience required in the following areas:

  • Full understanding of end to end ASIC design flow

  • Physical implementation (Floorplanning, Placement, CTS, STA) in advanced technologies.

  • STA tool and closure methodologies

  • PTPX, PowerArtist and PowerCompiler

  • Power grid, clock tree anlysis/optimization, and low-power reduction implementation methods

  • Power optimization flows for Vmin optimization, Power recovery, Leakage recovery, etc

  • Approaches to improve fmax at different voltage corners

  • Technology comparison PPA analysis and sweeps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Systems/HW background with a good understanding of microprocessor architecture and common SoC hardware blocks

  • Experience in power modeling, verification, and simulation tools

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education Requirements Required: Bachelor's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering

Preferred: Master's, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
