Job Overview Qualcomm Research San Diego is hiring a Computer Architect for a novel ground up processor design project aimed at machine learning workloads. The domain specific processor employs an innovative architecture that delivers superior performance at lower power than competing architectures.

Qualcomm Research is defining the next-generation architectures for our system-on-chip (SoC) products for a variety of different markets. We have an exciting & dynamic computer architect position available with a focus on novel architectural concepts and their applicability to Qualcomms SoCs. In particular the position is aimed at architecting an innovative processor for machine learning workloads. The position requires working with a team of world-class SoC and processor architects, modeling and evaluating innovative concepts, and then working with digital designers for realization. The position will involve understanding industry and product trends specifically in the area of machine learning, work with the product team to define feature sets and architect solutions for delivering the required performance, power and area. This role has a heavy focus on developing processor models at different levels of abstraction using state-of-art techniques. The position will also involve collaboration with schools and startups on promising technology.

Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of experience in processor modeling or micro-architectural exploration - experience building models for a processor at different levels of abstraction.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience working with the structure & bottlenecks of the CPU and memory systems

  • Experience with C++ and Verilog

  • Assembly-level programming Compiler technology,

  • Multiprocessor systems

  • Hardware virtualization

  • Security architecture

  • Weakly-ordered memory models

  • On-chip bus architecture & off-chip memory systems

  • RTL development using Verilog, synthesis, timing analysis,

-Excellent written and verbal communications skills,

-Knowledge of machine learning workloads.

Education Requirements Required: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering

Preferred: Doctorate
