Job Overview Qualcomm is looking to grow its Irish workforce with the addition of IT staff who will support Qualcomm's global teams in the delivery of best-in-class IT solutions. We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator, to work within QUALCOMM's IT department. You will manage, optimize, and scale database infrastructure. You will drive adoption of cloud-based and hybrid database technologies, working closely with our application teams to understand data platform requirements and to provide guidance on database technology selection and adoption. You will demonstrate your knowledge and experience with database design, development, performance tuning, and administration to deliver robust relational and NoSQL database solutions. The ideal candidate should also understand the importance of database integrity in terms of both efficiency and security.

Working with other database administration staff, you will consult, advise and assist in the performance of technical activities.

Minimum Qualifications Design, architect, and implement highly available relational and NoSQL database systems, for both cloud and on-prem deployments

Consult with application teams on data modelling and schema design, database coding, and database performance tuning

Willing to research and take on new data technologies to meet business requirements

Responsible for 7x24 support of production databases

Set up and maintain documentation and standards

You will either follow direction or work independently on basic to moderately complex assignments

Preferred Qualifications 3+ years IT-relevant work experience

Experience working with the AWS architecture, particularly AWS database offerings

Experience in design and implementation of highly available, scalable database solutions

Skills in Oracle database management, in a Sun Solaris or LINUX environment

Enterprise production DBA experience working in a team

Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines, and work under pressure

Excellent communication, customer service and people skills

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff and employees

Ability to work independently with supervision

Education Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
