Job Overview Qualcomm Technologies International are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Software Development Tools team. You will assist in the development of SDKs, IDEs and compiler toolchains that enable our customers to develop world-beating products using Qualcomm's semiconductors. Customers products may include Bluetooth speaker docks, wireless mice, in-car information/entertainment system and advanced satellite navigation and our development environments are central to their success.
This position is based in Cambridge (UK) and you will develop class leading software tools supporting Qualcomm's semiconductors. Main development is using C and C++ and you will also be using some scripting (Python) and third-party software such as Qt and Gcc to enable a complete development environment for our customers.
Capture requirements, design, develop and test new software components in C++ and C
Maintain and enhance existing software
Define and plan new tasks
Take part in design and code reviews
Create user documentation as required
Work with the team to maintain best practices
Excellent understanding of C++ and C
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problem-solving ability
Ability to learn new technologies and skills
Ability to write portable, multi-platform code for Windows and Linux.
Exposure to large scale build, integration and test environments
Experience with Python or another modern scripting language
Experience of use and modification of compiler toolchains
Familiarity with GUI frameworks and technologies (e.g. Qt, .Net)
Experience of unit test frameworks and design for test
Understanding of embedded software development tasks
Education Requirements Required: BSc Computing Science or equivalent technical qualification or relevant experience
Preferred: MSc or PhD in computing, electronics, science subject
