Job Overview Within our Innovation group, we are looking to increase of abilities to address antenna and radio design in constrained form factors. This group is a multi-disciplinary team covering several technical areas, focused on algorithms, systems and prototypes development. The team is physically distributed between San Diego, San Jose, Noida (New Delhi) and Cambridge (UK). Recently, we have engaged in the area of wireless head-worn Hearable technologies, combining our past experiences in wireless (Bluetooth) protocols, system design, audio algorithms, antenna/RF designs and usage of MEMS sensors for Health and Sport applications. We are looking at supplementing our existing team with a candidate able to address hardware and software issues, with specific knowledge in RF aspects, preferably including Antenna Design (ISM and Near-Field-Magnetic-Induction). Limited hardware board designs are expected from time to time and some level of Software engineering and scripting are also expected (C and Python).
The candidate shall be capable of working within their own area of expertise but also contribute to other disciplines within the wider team. Good communication skills both verbal and written are essential.
The position will be for our Cambridge office.
Design of small form factor devices containing radio, near-field EM and biometric sensors
Effective contribution to RF and Antenna validation through radiated tests in specialised environment (anechoic chamber).
Documentation of experiments, results and resulting designs.
Collaboration with others to drive performance improvements and generate Intellectual Property where appropriate.
Basic Scripting of experiments and simple development of essential drivers in relations to experimentations and management of test equipment.
Demonstrable working on RF and antenna systems.
Good degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience of antenna design in small form factor products (500 MHz to 6GHz would be preferable)
Experience and knowledge of design using lumped and distributed RF structures, discrete designs for amplifiers and RF switches
Knowledge of making RF and antenna measurements in an anechoic chamber
Interest in electromagnetics and EM field simulation.
Interest in innovation and patent generation.
Experience of system level design and issues related to it
Experience of using RF linear and non-linear simulation tools, ideally industry standard such as ADS and similar packages.
Experience in using 3D EM simulation software such as CST and HFSS
Experience in general non-RF hardware design.
Knowledge of Matlab and other lab instrument control software
Knowledge of Python/C or demonstrable learning ability to gain such competency
Good communication skills (documentations and presentations)
Team work oriented. Good interpersonal skills with strong work ethic.
Willingness to learn and prepared to self-teach in other non-core disciplines
