Job Overview Work in a firmware engineering development and test role. Work assignments require theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of C programming, device drivers and interfacing with RTOS running on ARM targets. In this role your focus will be to define and develop debug and tracing firmware infrastructure for an ARM server SoC. You will be the firmware expert in the debug domain and will have opportunity to work closely with architects to help influence the next generation server SoC design.

Minimum Qualifications As a Firmware Development Engineer for the Server Management Controller and Debug Firmware, you will be responsible for independently driving feature analysis, definition, development and test of solutions based on QUALCOMM's technologies. The candidate will be expected to quickly ramp-up on the existing code-base and develop a working understanding of the SoC. He/She will need to demonstrate a high degree of independence, strong communication skills both within and across teams and show high initiative to solve complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications 5+ years experience in the following areas is required:

  • C/C++ developing Firmware peripheral drivers. Knowledge of RTOSes, ARM-based SoC architecture (core, cache, memory, bus architecture, IOs, etc.) and common hardware blocks.

  • 64 bit ARMv8 architecture, understanding of ARMv8 programmers model and programming experience is required.

  • Experience with Source Code and Configuration management tools, git knowledge is desired.

  • Experience working with cross platform build tool chains for ARMv8 targets, experience with GCC or LLVM tools is required.

  • Software debugging skills on embedded real time operating systems.

  • Experience working with ARM SoCs and familiarity with important building blocks like interrupt controller, timers is a strong plus.

  • Strong analytical and teamwork skills with excellent communication skills.

The following skill areas are desirable:

  • Understanding of ARM CoreSight debug and trace architecture.

  • TCP/IP familiarity and stack development experience.

  • Experience working with boot code for ARM processors.

  • Software development and debug tools including compilers, profilers, source control systems, emulators, JTAG and serial debuggers, and logic analyzers.

Education Requirements Required: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience. MS a plus
